About Joon

I was born in Seoul, South Korea and then moved to the States at the age of sixteen to finish high school. I later majored in engineering and planned to build my career in Korea. However, after a difficult stage in my own life when I needed help, I realized there were little to no counseling services for Koreans both in Korea and the States. I decided to pursue my long-time passion for psychology and counseling instead to help others using my experience. 

I want to be remembered as a companion who empathizes more than anyone else as an immigrant living the same life, not just as a counselor who provides mental health services to Koreans.

I previously helped school teenagers as a counselor at Mesquite ISD, and am researching how Western culture psychology should be applied to Koreans. I am currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Educational Counseling at Texas A&M-Commerce.
